Padel has conquered the hearts of many sports fans, and one of the reasons behind its growing popularity lies in the dimensions of its court. Unlike other racquet sports, padel offers a more affordable and accessible court, making it an attractive option for players of all levels, from beginners to professionals.

Dimensions and measurements of a padel court

According to the regulations of the International Padel Federation (FIP), a padel court has a total area of 200 square meters, distributed 10 meters wide by 20 meters long. These dimensions refer exclusively to the playing area, excluding walls or bars. With each half of the court made up of a 10×10 meter square, the net divides the court into two equal parts.

The net, with a length of 10 meters and a height of 0.88 meters in its center, is a crucial element in the game. The service lines, 5 centimeters thick, mark the distance between the back wall and the service line, which is 3 meters.

In addition, padel allows play outside the court, requiring a delimited free space of 2×4 meters on each side, with access doors of at least 1.05 by 2 meters to guarantee the comfort of the players.

What is the height of a padel court?

A unique feature of padel is the use of walls, which are essential to the game. The back walls must have a height of 4 meters, allowing different configurations, such as the first 3 meters rigid (either wall or glass) and the last meter formed by a metal mesh. On the sides, two meters high are common, with another two meters of mesh.

For covered courts, a minimum ceiling height of 6 meters is recommended, although the FIP suggests a higher height of 8 meters for new constructions, thus adapting to the evolution of the game.

What is the recommended lighting for optimal gaming?

Artificial lighting is essential to play padel at any time of the day. According to FIP regulations, a court must have at least four floodlights located outside the playing field, with a minimum height of 6 meters. The lighting intensity must be uniform, with a minimum of 200 lux outdoors and 300 lux indoors, doubling for professional or televised matches.

Padel not only offers an exciting game on a court of affordable dimensions, but also guarantees optimal conditions for an incomparable playing experience.
